Vieux Touré

Education:

Biography:

Vieux Touré earned his diploma in literary studies at Cheikh Anta Diop University and concomitantly was admitted to the faculty of sciences and technology of education to complete his junior high school teaching certificate in Dakar, Senegal. As a transfer student, he became a Fulbright undergraduate scholar at Bluefield State College. Vieux holds a dual master’s degree in French and African studies from Ohio University. He taught French at North Gaston High School in Dallas, NC, before joining Penn State to pursue a dual doctoral degree in French and Francophone Studies and African Studies. As a third year PhD candidate, his research interests explore, among other areas, African francophone literatures and philosophies, literary theories and history, decolonial/postcolonial theories, and transnationalism.
